MINUTES OF THE ARTS ADVISORY BOARD REGULAR MEETING

MONDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2001
6:30PM

1025 SOUTH GILBERT ROAD, GILBERT, ARIZONA

MEMBERS PRESENT: Scott Emerson, Betsy Harfst, Mark Lymer, Gary Lewallen, Estella Velasco-Gilfillan, Vice-Chair, Dwight Walth, Chair

MEMBERS ABSENT: Jose Benavides, Paula Beavin

STAFF PRESENT: Lili Schuett, Cari Woods

COUNCIL: Council Liaison, Vice-Mayor Les Presmyk and Council Member Don Skousen

CALL TO ORDER OF SPECIAL MEETING

Dwight called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

ROLL CALL

Dwight declared a quorum present.

1. Minutes

Mark moved to accept meeting minutes for October 1, 2001 and Scott seconded the motion.

DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEMS

2. Communications From:

Board Members â?? Estella reported that there would be a lecture held on October 20th at Mesa Community College regarding public art. Jose and Mark attended the Tempe Arts Commission meeting. Dwight informed the group that the Phoenix Arts Commission would be meeting Wednesday, October 17th at City Hall.

Council Liaison â?? The Vice-Mayor informed the board that they should put together a short presentation for the December Council agenda. This presentation should just be a six month update on what the board is doing as well as a fact sheet on who each member is and what their careers are.

Administrator â??

Judge Phares would like to be on the agenda concerning the new public safety building.

Lili and Cari will be attending a meeting at the new Water Treatment Plant site. They will meet with the engineers and an artist interested in the project.

BOARD ADJOURNED TO SUB-COMMITTEES

3. Sub-Committee Assignments â?? The Board will discuss interests and involvement in the New Yearâ??s Eve Party at the next meeting, November 5th.

ADJOURNMENT

Dwight put in a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 p.m. All members agreed.
